About Us
Elsewhere Academy exists because most online education is built around the wrong thing.
This isn’t courses that cost hundreds of dollars and leave you with a certificate you can’t use or instructors performing expertise rather than sharing it. We’ve been students in those systems. We’ve also built things in the real world — businesses, processes, structures — and we know the difference between knowing something and being able to do it.
We built Elsewhere because we wanted a place where the work is the point.
Every course here is structured around output. You don’t complete a course by watching it. You complete it by producing something — a plan, a system, an asset, a decision you can defend. Our instructors are selected for demonstrated competence, not credentials or follower counts. Standards are non-negotiable before anything goes live.
This is applied study. It is not for passive learners and it is not trying to be everything to everyone. If you want practical capability and proof of work, you’re in the right place.

Bella Knox
Business, Retail & Healthcare Operations
Bella came up through healthcare and education before pivoting into retail, where she opened and ran her own operation without a roadmap or a safety net. The first two years were harder than she expected. She made expensive mistakes, rebuilt her systems, and eventually got it to a place she was proud of. She teaches the practical side of starting and running a business — structures, decisions, and the things nobody warns you about — because she would have paid anything for a course like this when she was starting out.
Drew Merritt
Business & Entrepreneurship
Drew spent twelve years opening and operating independent retail businesses before he started teaching what he learned the hard way. He has built two profitable brick-and-mortar stores from scratch, survived a failed partnership, and restructured a business that was three months from closing. He teaches because most business education skips the part where things go wrong.
Sean Wakefield
Finance & Money
Sean managed cash flow and financial operations for small and mid-size businesses for over a decade before going independent. He has worked with founders who had great products and no idea where their money was going, and he built his courses around fixing exactly that. His approach is direct, number-first, and completely free of jargon.
Jess Moran
Marketing & Sales / Creative Practice
Jess built a freelance creative practice over eight years doing copy, campaigns, and creative direction for small businesses and independent brands. Some of it worked well. Some of it didn’t. She teaches the practical side of getting creative work seen and sold — without the mythology that usually surrounds it.
